Underground Coal Mine Supervisory and Management Training. Phase I,

Abstract

This report describes the activities and findings of the research phase of a project to develop a safety-oriented training program for supervisory and management personnel in the underground coal mining industry. The research described herein seeks to identify managerial and supervisory practices and skills which may influence the effective implementation of safe mining methods, to further identify those skills and practices for which training and reinforcement are necessary, and to develop from such findings, a set of instructional objectives to form the basis for the development pilot test and validation phase of a safety-oriented program.
