Cognitions of Work Unit Structure.
Abstract
An improved conceptual and empirical approach to identifying dimensions of work unit structure is proposed and tested. Multidimensional scaling procedures utilizing input data from 180 unit respondents recover a perceptual map of work unit structure. Interpretive analyses suggest that participants differentiate work unit structure along five dimensions: bureaucratic, affective, interaction, function and size. Both substantive and methodological advances are claimed. (Author)
