The Atmospheric Transmission Generation System for Satellite Infrared Sounders.

Abstract

The Atmospheric Transmission Generation System is a collection of computer programs which generate atmospheric transmission profiles for satellite-borne infrared sounders. Some of this system's components have been used to produce a monochromatic transmittance tape (MTT) which covers the spectral range from 640-780/cm with a resolution of 0.1/cm. The MTT can be used in conjunction with other programs in this system to quickly and easily produce spectral atmospheric transmission profiles, which can subsequently be used for temperature retrievals.
