Stratospheric Cryogenic Infrared Balloon Experiment. A 0.1/cm LN2 Cooled Balloon-Borne Fourier Transform Spectrometer System.

Abstract

A balloon-borne liquid nitrogen cooled Fourier transform spectrometer system was test-flown from Holloman Air Force Base on 8 October 1980. The system and the modifications to it required for balloon application are described and the flight results discussed. Samples of the interferograms obtained during the flight and their transforms are presented. Procedures for improving the performance on subsequent flights are discussed. (Author)
