Abstract

The goal of the Corps' Visitor Perception and Interpretive Services Program is to 'inform and educate the public with regard to the purposes and concept of operation of the water project and the historical and natural features of the area.' The purpose of this manual is to assist Corps personnel in developing and implementing these interpretive services at water resource projects. The manual contains information on designing interpretive objectives, selecting appropriate messages to convey, understanding the visitor, choosing the appropriate media, selecting and training interpretive personnel, and evaluating interpretive services.
