Development of an Air Sampling and Analytical Method for 1,6-Hexamethylene Diisocyanate.

Abstract

A preliminary evaluation of a new air sampling and analytical procedure for 1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate (HDI) is given. Airborne HDI is trapped by drawing air through a filter which had been impregnated with 1-naphthylene methyl amine (NMA) HDI and NMA react on the filter surface to form the stable urea, HDI-NMA, which quantified by HPLC. A novel procedure is presented for separating HDI-NMA from NMA during analysis.
