Liquidus Temperatures of Commercial ESR Slags,

Abstract

Melting point data for a number of slag systems of particular interest in the electroslag refining of steel have been determined under laboratory conditions. In several instances, the melting point temperatures determined differed considerably from those quoted commercially. Such discrepancies were attributed to the presence of impurities in the raw feed materials, causing their composition to differ considerably from nominal. (Author)
