C-5A Operational Utility Evaluation Soil Tests and Analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to present the data collected concerning the ground flotation characteristics of the C-5A aircraft during the C-5A operational utility evaluation test program. This report gives a description of the three test sites selected for this program, a summary of all soil and surface distress measurements taken at each site during aircraft operations, and an analysis of the data. Results of this evaluation test program indicate that 3-in. ruts have little or no effect on the performance of the C-5A aircraft on unsurfaced areas.
