Beam Space Formulation of the Maximum Signal-to-Noise Ratio Array Processor.

Abstract

The maximum signal-to-noise ratio array processor is formulated in beam space. Expressions for the optimum narrowband weight vectors and array gain are derived. Some general properties of the beamspace formulation are derived and conditions for the equivalence of the array and beam space formulations are proved. Examples using both simulated and sonar data are given to compare the beam and array space formulations. (Author)
