National Dam Safety Program. Pine Tree Lake East Dam (MO 30992), and Pine Tree Lake West Dam (MO 30995), Mississippi - Kaskaskia - St. Louis Basin, Washington County, Missouri. Phase I Inspection Report.

Abstract

These dams have been classified as unsafe, emergency by the St. Louis District as a result of the application of the following criteria: the common spillway for MO 30992 and MO 30995 will not pass a 10-year frequency flood without overtopping MO 30992 dam. The spillway is, therefore, considered to be unusually small and seriously inadequate. Overtopping of either dam could cause failure. Failure of either dam significantly increases the hazard to life and property downstream. Pine Tree Lake West Dam will be overtopped by a 10-year frequency flood, however, Pine Tree Lake East Dam will not be overtopped as a consequence of overtopping of Pine Tree Lake West Dam. Since these dams share a common spillway, this spillway is judged unusually small and seriously inadequate for both dams.
