Management Improvements Needed in Coast Guard Supply System.

Abstract

GAO previously reported that the Coast Guard was progressing in establishing a more viable supply system, but that further improvements were possible. Department of Transportation and Coast Guard officials indicated basic agreement with this report and added that corrective actions were underway to achieve anticipated goals. GAO found that the Coast Guard has made some progress in resolving some previously disclosed supply problems, but that opportunities for significant dollar savings still exist.
