A Comparison of Casualty Assessment Results from the TENOS and CIVIC Codes.

Abstract

Comparison of assessment results from the CIVIC and TENOS Population Casualty Assessment Codes was accomplished under selected input conditions and two U.S. population representations (data bases). Results indicate that for the large yield strike file employed, national results obtained from both codes did not differ significantly because of the significant overlapping of fallout fields. However, state-by-state results showed some significant variations due to the different fallout models employed (CIVIC, TENOS-WSEG-10) and the methodology for combining prompt and fallout effects. These variations, however, were not biased in any particular direction, i.e., in some cases TENOS results were higher while in others CIVIC results were higher. (Author)
