Digital Filtering of TIROS-N Mid-Infrared Satellite Data.

Abstract

Considerable multiband noise, present in the mid-infrared band of TIROS-N images, obscures the location of oceanic fronts. A filtering scheme is described that, upon application to an image containing the Gulf Stream, reduced the noise to an extent where the surface front was clearly visible.
