Military Families with Handicapped Children: The Reassignment Problem

Abstract

This report reviews the reassignment process for military members who have handicapped children and the general lack of information available with which the member can make a meaningful input into the beginning of the process. Bulk of the guide consists of self-evaluations of individual school systems that serve major United States Air Force installations in the United States. This information will allow parents to request bases, knowing in advance whether the school system(s) supporting personnel assigned to that base can support their child's needs.
