Local Coordination Prevents Duplication of Services at Federally Sponsored Indian Education Projects.

Abstract

Local coordination of federally sponsored Indian education projects prevented duplication of efforts at 25 project sites reviewed. However, at sites lacking coordination of such projects, the potential for duplication of efforts remains. Proposals to merge the Office of Indian Education's Title IV program and the Bureau of Indian Affairs' Johnson-O'Malley program or eliminate either program should not affect what types of services are available; however, they could affect which Indian students receive services.
