U.S. Navy Marine Climatic Atlas of the World. Volume IX. World-Wide Means and Standard Deviations

Abstract

The eight volume series of the U.S. Navy Marine Climatic Atlas of the World has had world-wide acceptance as an authoritative reference for large scale operational planning and applied research. This volume, based on the entire period of record available, resulted from the need to develop an automated quality control scheme for marine observations for use in the revision of the first 5 volumes of Atlas series. This was basically achieved by summarizing, analyzing and digitizing the mean and standard deviation charts that appear in this volume.
