Experimental Results of Multiple Scattering.

Abstract

Microwave analog measurements of scattering by ensembles of 2n(n=1,2,3) interacting spheres are presented. Emphasis is placed on the amplitude and phase measurements of the forward scattered wave as a function of the mutual separation of the spheres and the orientation of the ensembles with respect to the incident beam. A few side scattering and angular distribution measurements indicate the existence of specular scattering at particular array orientations for some of the two-sphere ensembles. A short historical sketch, a description of the experiments, and phenomenological explanations of the results are also given.
