Cognitive Correlates of Outcome and Performance in Marine Corps Recruit Training.

Abstract

This report describes relationships between assessed psychological characteristics and performance and attrition among Marine Corps recruits. The characteristics assessed were interpreted as measures of threat perceived by recruits. Recruits who were under high levels of threat showed the most unfavorable recruit training outcomes. Of the psychological indices, test anxiety was the one that related most strongly to attrition and performance. (Author)
