Guide for Transitioning Army Missile Systems From Development to Production.

Abstract

One of the most important steps in the life cycle of a new missile system is the transition from development into production. It encompasses completion of engineering development; a successful outcome of the milestone review process for production entry; initiation of the activities needed for production start-up; and routine manufacturing of the missile system. Because of the large number of diverse events that must be successfully orchestrated to achieve the transition, it is a complex and difficult challenge. This guide has been prepared to assist Project Managers for major and non-major systems in planning for and executing the transition for new missile systems.
