Abstract

North Arrowhead Lake Dam is an 11-year old earth embankment which impounds a lake used for recreational purposes. The dam is constructed in two sections: a ,1400-foot long, 21-foot high earth embankment dam with a 60-foot wide concrete ogee spillway at its eastern abutment, and a 970-foot long, 14- foot high earth embankment levee, located approximately 1,000 feet to the east of the dam. Thee spillway is classified as 'Adequate'. Based upon visual inspection of the dam and review of the drawings provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources (DER), North Arrowhead Lake Dam is considered to be in poor condition.
