Spherical Acoustic Broadband Receiver

Abstract

The development of a hydrophone array for determining signal bearing in three dimensions is described in theory and experiment. The array of omnidirectional elements, on a spherical surface is shaded in amplitude to produce a frequency-independent directional response. Design of omnidirectional elements is discussed.
