On Optimum Inspection Schedules.

Abstract

This paper treats the problem of determining the minimax inspection schedule for detecting failure of a component or system when inspections have a cost and cost of failure is proportional to the length of time between failure and detection. The minimaxing is done with respect to all failure distributions having a given mean. (Author)
