Assessment of Community Response to High-Energy Impulsive Sounds
Abstract
A dose-response relationship between day-night average C-weighted sound level and average degree of community annoyance is proposed for high- energy impulsive sounds. This proposal revises the relationship originally recommended in a NRC-CHABA report (1977) to reflect more recent community response data and additional analyses of previous data. The use of sound level- weighted population as a means for assessing noise impact, as originally proposed by CHABA, is retained in this proposal.
