Adjacent Store Effects, Hysteresis Effects, and Comparison with Flight Test of 1/20 Scale A-10 Aircraft Wind Tunnel Test Data

Abstract

An investigation is made into adjacent store effects of representative store and store loadings on the 1/20 scale A-10 aircraft wind tunnel model. Hysteresis effects during testing and comparison of wind tunnel data with full scale flight test results are presented. Data were obtained at Mach numbers 0.30, 0.50, 0.65, and 0.75. Angles of attack tested were 0 degrees, 5 degrees, 10 degrees, 15 degrees, and 20 degrees with angles of sideslip ranging from minus 18 degrees to plus 18 degrees. The study is based on wind tunnel tests conducted at Arnold Engineering Development Center in 1978 and on flight tests conducted during 1977 at Edwards Air Force Base.
