The Subchronic Inhalation Toxicity of Polyethylene Glycol 200 in the Rat and Mouse.
Abstract
In this study mice and rats were repeatedly exposed to concentrations of either 100 mg/cu. m or 1000 mg/cu. m of PEG 200 aerosol for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, for up to 13 weeks. The mice and rats did not appear to have any lesions related to the experimental procedure. No biologically consistent significant alterations in blood chemistry, hematology, or pulmonary resistance were found. No mutations or pathological abnormalities could be attributed to exposure to PEG 200. The data resulting from these studies may be useful in the derivation of airborne control limits for protection of personnel. (Author)
