Correlation between Thermal Electron Transfer in Solution and Photoelectron Emission.

Abstract

The activation free energy for electron transfer in solution or at electrodes is correlated to the corresponding Franck-Condon determined reorganization free energy R sub m for photoelectron emission. Excellent to fair agreement is obtained between the activation free energies predicted from R sub m and experimental values. Data are given for V2+, Cr2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Co2+ and Fe(CN)6(4-) in aqueous solution. (Author)
