Electromagnetic Characterization of a Marx Pulse Generator.

Abstract

This report reviews the electrical characteristics of the Marx pulser installed in ATLAS I (TRESTLE) facility. Various individual components of the pulser, e.g., monocone switch, central Marx column and peaker arms are studied for their electromagnetic properties. The resulting design curves and tables for peaker arm optimization are presented along with calculated pulser output waveforms for step inputs.
