Inverse Scattering for Electron Density Profile Determination. Volume I.

Abstract

The application of Exact Inverse Scattering Theory to the determination of the spatial distribution of ionospheric electron density is investigated. Vector field measurements and the effects of the earth's magnetic field are included. The uniqueness of the solution is proven for these cases. An exact analytic, closed-form solution for the source term in the inverse scattering problem is obtained. Practical and numerical aspects of using the techniques developed are examined. (Author)
