HF/VHF Spectrum Surveillance ESM Receiver.

Abstract

This report provides the design criteria, functions, capabilities and drawbacks of a HF/VHF spectrum surveillance ESM Receiver. It is designed to perform scanning of an operator-selected frequency band and perform signal identification upon detecting a signal. More emphasis is given, in this report, to the signal identification procedure which is one of the novel innovations incorporated into the receiver. The ESM Receiver is capable of identifying CW, AM, FM, SSB, DSB and PSK signals. (Author)
