User's Guide to the Flood Damage Estimation System.

Abstract

This report presents instructions for using a computer program in support of the flood damage estimation system of the Lower Mississippi Valley Division (LMVD). The program computes flood effects over geographic regions within LMVD in terms of acres inundated, crop damages, property damages, and persons affected. Some principal features are: (a) Classification of areas of each LMVD District in terms of a water resource unit (WRU). (b) Use of linear interpolation techniques in computing flood effects except for crop damages. (c) Use of percentage factors for crop damage calculations. (d) Output directed to the user's time-sharing terminal for immediate use. (Author)
