Particle Beam Chemistry Studies.

Abstract

Calculations were made of the chemistry in the channel left by a high intensity particle beam pulse. It was found that, because of the high temperature of the gas in the channel, the electron density was determined almost exclusively by electron-ion recombination. The role of nitrogen vibration in determining the temperature was also investigated. (Author)
