5,6:11,12-Bis(ditelluro) Tetracene: Synthesis, Molecular and Supramolecular Properties.

Abstract

Tetratellurotetracene (TTeT), synthesized in 13% yield from tetrachlorotetracene and a new sodium ditelluride reagent, absorbs at longer wavelengths in both solution and solid state and is oxidized electrochemically at a lower potential, compared to its selenium analog. The structure of TTeT, a monoclinic crystal, exhibits short interstack contacts of 3.701(1)A.
