Techniques for Reducing Gun Blast Noise Levels: An Experimental Study

Abstract

Several techniques for reducing gun muzzle blast noise level were investigated experimentally to determine potential effectiveness and utility for existing major-caliber guns. Techniques explored included muzzle brakes, conical muzzle devices, baffle-type silencers, water spray, and aqueous foam.
