Electromagnetic Coupling through Apertures.

Abstract

This report is a tutorial presentation on the use of the generalized network approach to aperture problems. The general theory is given and applied to the cases of electromagnetic transmission through an aperture in a conducting plane, a waveguide-fed aperture, a cavity-backed aperture, a narrow slot, and an aperture backed by a conducting body. The last two problems demonstrate the phenomena of aperture resonance for slots in thick conductors and apertures backed by conducting bodies.
