Foundations for the Development of a Simple Natural Language Interface for Task Knowledge Elicitation and Representation.

Abstract

This report presents a state-of-the-art synopsis of the field of natural language understanding, including the relative importance of meaning, syntax and semantics. A definition of parsing is suggested and several existing parsers are discussed. The final section discusses the contribution of the various parsers and parsing techniques to the implementation of a natural language interface to be used in research on Intelligent Support Systems at APU.
