Marine Seismic System Deployment (MSS). Phase 3. Investigation of Techniques and Deployment Scenarios for Installation of Tri-Axial Seismometer in a Borehole in the Deep Ocean

Abstract

This report presents the results of the Phase II fabrication and operations activities associated with the initial Marine Seismic System (MSS) at-sea-test accomplished on March 1981. The at-sea-test operations was conducted using the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) drillship Glomar Challenger for an estimated period of six days. The overall MSS deployment program plan and associated costs estimate has been upgraded to reflect the emplacement of one borehole and the deployment of a configuration I Borehole Instrumentation Package (BIP) system in the North Pacific during the period of August 1982.
