LONGBRAKE II.

Abstract

Longbrake II is a 12 month program consisting of both study and hardware phases. The objective of the study is to develop an optimum Linear Predictive Coding vocoder system by optimizing the current real time algorithms used, and by the evaluation of additional LPC related techniques. The purpose of the hardware effort is to develop, test, and evaluate two Exploratory Development Models (EDM) of a speech compression system which incorporates the Atal and Markel approaches to adaptive linear estimation. The work accomplished in the final quarter is summarized, a description of system performance over channels with bit errors is included, and a proposed ADM hardware design is described. (Author)
