Irregular Wave Runup on Smooth Slopes.

Abstract

The results of several laboratory studies have been used to develop a method to estimate the wave runup and rundown on plane, smooth slopes caused by irregular wave action. Curves and equations are presented which can be used to compute the 2-percent runup, significant runup, mean runup, and approximate lower limit of rundown. A procedure is suggested for adapting the smooth-slope results to wave runup on rough and porous slopes. Example problems illustrate the use of the material presented. (Author)
