Transient Response of Laminated, Bimodular-Material, Composite Rectangular Plates.

Abstract

Finite-element and closed-form solutions to the equations of motion governing layered composite plates of bimodular materials are presented for rectangular plates with all edges simply supported without in-plane restraint and tangential rotation and subjected to suddenly applied, sinusoidally distributed, transverse loadings. Finite element results are also presented for the same problem but with uniformly distributed step loading. The finite element results are found to be in good agreement with the closed-form solutions. (Author)
