Mutagenic Activity of N-(n-octyl)-glutarimide and Proprietary Compound CHR 8 Using the Drosophila melanogaster Sex-Linked Recessive Lethal Test.

Abstract

N-(N-octyl)-glutarimide and Proprietary Compound CHR 8 are both insect repellents being considered for use among personnel in the field. Both compounds were tested for mutagenic activity by using Drosophila melanogaster Sex-linked Recessive Lethal Assay and were found to be mutagenic after 72-hr feeding exposures to 70mM and 90mM of N-(n-octyl)-glutarimide, and 55 mM and 70 mM of Proprietary Compound CHR 8.
