Further Results on the Stability of a Thick Elastic Plate under Thrust.

Abstract

The stability of the critical state for flexural buckling of a plate of incompressible isotropic elastic material with arbitrary strain-energy function is studied. Most of the analysis is carried out without restriction on the magnitude of the aspect ratio of the plate. However, the final result is limited to the case when the aspect ratio is such that terms of fourth degree in it may be neglected in comparison with terms of zero degree. (Author)
