The International Operations of U.S. Service Industries: Current Data Collection and Analysis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the current system of international services data collection and to evaluate the data being generated, in order to identify the essential facts and trends which define the commercial interests of the United States in this area. Because the issues and problems involved are relatively novel, the presently available data are in most cases incomplete and in some cases seriously inadequate for the potential needs of policy-makers. The analysis contained in this report is designed to assess the strengths and limitations of existing official and private sources of international services data, in terms of current and potential U.S. commercial-policy requirement.
