Abstract

The present report describes a design for a new approach to basic skills education in the Army to make the BSEP even more valuable to both the Army and the individual soldier. The new program, called the Army Developmental Education Program for Performance and Training (ADEPPT), provides on-duty instruction to teach basic skills and knowledges immediately usable by soldiers to help them learn and perform Army jobs, perform Army and civilian life tasks that can affect Army job performance, and perform tasks that improve potential for successful Army career progression through participation in and completion of secondary and post-secondary education.
