Feasibility Study of Adaptation of Automatic Non-Contact Inspection Machine to Inspection of M577 MTSQ Fuze Laminar Components.

Abstract

On June 5, 1979, authorization was given to proceed and show the adaptability of the Automatic Non-Contact Inspection Machine to various timer, SSD and trigger plate components of the M577 MTSQ Fuze. The Bulova Systems and Instruments Corporation has already developed a prototype machine for automatic non-contact dimensional inspection of mechanical time fuze movement plates. In accordance with contractual requirements, this machine was designed and built to primarily inspect plate 1, first lamina of the MT, M571 fuze. The machine was also designed with the flexibility to adapt to the measurement of other lamina with a minimum of conversion time. This document contains the results and conclusions of the study of M577 plate inspection adaptibility and is made to demonstrate the feasibility and compatibility of the equipment to inspect similar lamina components used in the M577 MTSQ Fuze.
