Impact of Non-Russian Ethnic Groups on the Soviet Military.

Abstract

This essay describes the changes in ethnic composition of the USSR and the impact of these trends on the Soviet military. The author discusses the trends in relation to such issues as inter-ethnic relations, education and training and language difficulties. The author then advances a number of changes in the Soviet society which may result from the increasing numbers of Non-Russians and make a general recommendation concerning what U.S. action might be appropriate.
