Impact of the Freedom of Information Act on the National Intelligence Agencies.

Abstract

This report evaluates the freedom of Information Act's impact on the ability of national intelligence agencies to protect sensitive intelligence information, sources & methods. This report contrasts this problem with those who argue that the FOIA protects basic American freedoms to insure that abuses of power do not occur. This paper does a good job of setting forth the arguments on both sides. Of particular interest is the evaluation of FOIA's impact on broad matters of national security. (Author)
