U. S. Reliance on South Africa for Strategic Minerals: Its Impact on U. S. National Defense Production

Abstract

The essay examines U.S. dependence on South Africa as a supplier of strategic raw materials and the impact of such a supply source on U.S. national defense production. The essay limits its strategic raw materials to manganese, chromium, and platinum. It also examines alternate sources of strategic materials and U.S. inhibitors to domestic production.
