Abstract

This is the first in a series of reports designed to describe the origin, development, and applications of the Naval Enlisted Professional Development Information System (NEPDIS). NEPDIS was designed to be a fully computerized information assembly and analysis system that would eventually support manpower, personnel, and training management. This report provides an overview of NEPDIS, describes the subsystems, summarizes the status of the system and ongoing developments, and presents a model for career planning based on the NEPDIS concept. As presently configured, the NEPDIS is composed for the following subsystems and files: Training Development Subsystem--Training development and management file, and Task inventory file; Instructional Subsystem--Instructional program file, and Training materials and literature file; Training Record and Evaluation Subsystem--Training and education file, and Training evaluation file; Career Development Subsystem--Career ladder file; and Audit Subsystem.
