Definitive Quantity-Distance Tables for Stores of Explosives.

Abstract

Metric tables of recommended safety distances away from quantities of explosives have been prepared for replacing our current English unit tables. These new tables use selected percentage increment values for distances in meters, and apply to conventional situations such as inhabited building distances, intraline distances, and magazine separations. Their range is about that of our current tables, and they use about the same number of increment steps. These new tables are based on exponential relationships, the exponents in which have theoretical background, and constants of proportionality that are based on accumulated experience with explosions. The method of construction of these new metric tables is briefly described.
