The Role of Meteorological Satellites in Tactical Battlefield Weather Support.

Abstract

The requirements for tactical battlefield weather support are examined and the critical area of mesoscale analysis and prediction is identified. Ground data processing techniques and personnel training requirements are assessed as well as current and proposed meteorological satellite sensors and systems. The minimum requirements for the Battlefield Weather Observing and Forecasting System are established. Report is fully documented and extensive reference list is included. (Author)
